September 01, 2020
End:  October 31, 2020
Genre:  (Inter)national partners
Various locations in Plymouth UK

The ‘Stories and Shells’ exhibition is a nationally touring exhibition that will acknowledge our cultural connection to the Wampanoag people who met the Mayflower and ensured the survival of the English settlers. It will include the commissioning of a new wampum belt, made exclusively by the Wampanoag people of the Mashpee and Aquinnah nations, to mark the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower, which will tour alongside wider Mayflower content.

The creative process underpinning the exhibition will bring Wampanoag artists to the British Museum to record, interpret and explore one of the world’s largest collections of historic wampum belts. It will tour venues in Plymouth from September 1 until October 31.
